Action Action: Don’t Cut Your Fabric To This Year’s Fashion
Victory Records
2004
7 out of 10

When you combine the likes of serious upbeat and dance along grooves from The Reunion Show plus the empowering pop-punk success of the late Count the Stars, Action Action’s first debut release off Victory Records is exactly what results in the creation of Don’t Cut Your Fabric To This Year’s Fashion. Undergoing one of the most experimental and farfetched recording processes, Producer William Wittman (Cyndi Lauper) and the man behind it all – singer/songwriter Mark Thomas Kluepfel – created a promising start comparable to the 80’s glam darkness of The Cure and Depeche Mode.

Tracks such as “Bleed” feature guest appearances from Taking Back Sunday’s Ed Reyes on guitar; Gary Bennett from Kill Your Idols playing in “Eighth Grade Summer Romance” with a guitar solo; and added vocals from The Sleeping’s Doug Robinson in “Broken.” Although one would expect song lyrics similar to The Reunion Show, Kluepfel’s true personal directive is finally taking way. Don’t Cut Your Fabric... features conserving past works of 80’s glam rock influenced by the band’s daring ambition and unique style marking a true beginning with room for potential growth and an engaging future to say the least. If that isn’t enough to convince you otherwise, the blinding hot pink and fluorescent green artwork just might.
