Irradio

Irradio rocks, that is all you need to know. Check them out now or regret it forever. The following is an e-mail interview done mostly with Collin (drummer).

Joel: Briefly describe your music?
Irradio: Our music is a diverse blend of different textures and emotions. We all come from different musical and cultural backgrounds, and we each bring a piece of that to the table.

Joel: Why should people listen to your band?
Irradio: We are the best up-and-coming band in San Diego. Period. We are different than the natural progression of rock that every band seems to emulate so well.

Joel: How long has Irradio been a band?
Irradio: Three years.

Joel: Where did you get your name from?
Irradio: One of the first rock stations in the late 50's to come out of Zapotlan, Jalisco (Mexico) was called Irradio.

Joel: What makes Irradio different from every other band out there?
Irradio: Our music is original. All musicians are products of their influences, but rather than regurgitate what has already been done, we take it one step further and pick up where others have left off. Also, just look at us . . . We don’t portray any titles or ideas of the masses; we represent regular people making music.

Joel: Is there any message you try to get across through your music?

Irradio: Don’t get programmed, live for now and believe in yourself!

Joel: Do you have a single song that has a special meaning to you?

Irradio: "Make This End.” It deals with all of the inconsistencies in life that we let control us.

Joel: What bands, people, books, etc have had the biggest influence on your band?
Irradio: Bob Marley, The Pixies, Fugazi, Oscar Wilde’s Pictures of Dorean Gray, and all of the writings of Stephen Jay Gould.
Joel: What about Irradio are you most proud of?
Irradio:
The way that we write music together, and the fact that we all have different cultural backgrounds. Our new album Semantic Noise.

Joel: What is the biggest thing about Irradio you want to improve?
Irradio: We want to be bling bling’n with gold chains and ice around our necks. Forrealthough.

Joel: What CDs are currently in your stereo?
Collin: Pretty Girls Make Graves - Good Health, Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish, Queens of the Stone Age - Songs For the Deaf.
Dan (guitar, vocals): The Cure - Head On The Door, Prince and the Revolution - Purple Rain, The Psychedelic Furs, and Cold Play.

Joel: Do you have any closing comments?
Irradio: Call 92.1, 91X and Rock 105.3 and tell them that you want to hear Irradio, also, our new album, Semantic Noise, can be purchased at Wherehouse Music in Hillcrest, Off the Record, Spin Records, and various Music Traders, or online at www.irradiomusic.com.
