Say
From Charms
Say From Charms is releasing
their debut five song EP, So This is Revolution, later this month. Anyone
that is a fan of Thursday or Thrice or any other bands in that "melodic hardcore"
genre needs to check these guys out. They bring the rock, and we've heard their
live show is even better, so make sure to check out their CD release Saturday
March 15th at the Scene with Waiting For Autumn!
Joel:
What's your band's name? Alex: Say From Charms.
Joel: What's
your function in the band? Alex: I play guitar and do vocals.
Joel:
Briefly describe your music. Alex: You take all the stuff we listen to,
and it influences the biggest thing we're all good at, and we do our best.
Joel:
Why should people listen to your band? Alex: 'Cause they might like us...
Joel:
What's up with your new EP? What songs are on it? When and where can we

buy
it? Is there a CD release show in the works? What was the recording like?
Alex:
Our new EP, So This Is Revolution was recorded late last year during the
winter with Sean O'Donnell, of Dogwood and Reeve Oliver fame. We had spent the
year we've been together writing and revising the 5 songs we included on it, and
it couldn't have been a better first recording experience for us. We are very
happy with how it came out and you can find it at our shows and mail order through
sayfromcharms.com.
Joel:
How long has Say From Charms been a band for?
Alex: We've been a band since
November 2001.
Joel: Where did you get your name from?
Alex:
If you don't know, we don't know.
Joel: What makes Say From Charms
different from every other band out there?
Alex: Our lyrics and our messages
are personal, so the music is a representation of us and nobody else.
Joel: Is there any message you try to get across through your music?
Alex:
Nothing particular. We don't usually have big
goals on what to write and how it should sound and what it should be about. It
mostly just comes out how it does.
Joel: Do you have a single song
that has a special meaning to you?
Alex: Hahahaa. I think all of our
songs, collectively, have sentiment, 'cause like I said, they're personal.
Joel:
What bands, people, books, etc. have had the biggest influence on your band?
Alex:
Refused, Dennis Lyxzen, Die Radio Die, Death
Cab For Cutie, Ben Gibbard... People like that.
Joel:
What about Say From Charms are you most proud of?
Alex: The music.
Joel: What is the biggest thing about Say From Charms you
want to improve?
Alex: The music.
Joel: What CDs are currently in your stereo?
Alex: Mates of State, Cursive and Refused.
Joel: Do you have any closing comments?
Alex: Simply, we're really really new to pretty much everyone.
I think I know all the people who like our band, so to everyone,
give us a chance, listen to our mp3s, come to a show, and
maybe you'll like us. Thanks sandiegopunk.com!
