ATOMS

SDP: Who's in the band and what do they do?
Dee-Electric Guitar/Joey-Vocals/Branden-Bass Guitar/Kait-0-Keys/Christy Beats-Drums.

SDP: Briefly describe your music.
Joey- Short simple pop songs.
Atoms
Dee- Top 40.
Kait-O- Punk Rock
Branden-rock n roll.

SDP: What's your live show like?
Joey- I sweat better than I sing. A pogo-party.
Dee- People dance and are nice to the floor.
Branden- Energetic and amusing.
Kait-0- Fun.

SDP: Why should people listen to your band?
Joey- They 'Should' if they like punk rock music.
Dee- They shouldn't.
Branden- Cause we rock.
Kait-0- What Branden said.

SDP: How long have you been a band for?
Joey- Since me and Dee's senior year in high school.
Dee- We have been jamming in the garage since April of 2003.
Branden- What they said.

SDP: Where did you get your name from?
Joey- We were actually a group awhile before we came up with a name for the band. I think the name reflects and represents a lot of our lyrical content and expression. It's derived from theories that we're all the same as a specie despite styles, beliefs etc. That sort of connected, symbiotic idea of the human conveyer belt.

SDP: What makes Atoms different from every other band out there?
Branden- Our originality speaks for itself.
Dee - We are influenced by bands from 30 years ago and not 3 years ago.
Joey- I could say that the members of Atoms were deaf all their lives until reaching their teens, cured at 16 and then handed musical instruments but that would be a terrible lie and I would be unable to back that with any scientific fact. We have emotions, we can all scream better then we sing and we use electric instruments, yet we aren't 'emo','screamo' or 'electro.' A copy of a copy of a copy is always different and that has been proven by many new up and coming bands who give their modern-esque twist and spin on nostalgic acts. We are different from any other band out there because we're Atoms. Trying to be a safe, regurgitated act just doesn't get us off.

SDP: Is there any message you try to get across through your music?
Joey- No. Even though we have songs chocked full of information we don't want to preach, I think we care more about cool expression and just playing rock n' roll music.
Dee- There's no such thing as hair do's and dont's.
Kait-0- No.

SDP: Do you have a single song that has a special meaning to you?
Joey- Yes, but it would be way embarrassing if I let that out- on the internet.
Dee- "Space Pirates," probably because it was the first original song we played.
Branden- "Carbon Copy," because when I first heard it I knew I had to be in this band.
Kait-0- Space Pirates, because it's our only ballad.

SDP: What bands, people, books, etc. have had the biggest influence on your band?
Joey- Just about every Punk rock/New-Wave/Power pop group. Other then that, I really admire Alicia Keys, I really wish I had a fraction of her talent.
Dee- Bob Mothersbaug, Pete Townshend.
Branden- The Beatles, David Bowie.
Kait-0- The B-52's.

SDP: What about the band are you most proud of?
Joey- The fact that we fool people into thinking we actually know how to play and operate our instruments (some people).

SDP: What is the biggest thing you want to improve?
Joey- Controlling my raging hormones (when I perform) (in the band).
Dee- Not having to borrow other people's guitars.
Branden- Not shocking the entire band when we play with my bass head that has a dangerous grounding problem.

SDP: What CDs are currently in your stereo?
Joey- Blondie on my turntable/The Mumps on my compact disk player and that new Green Day hit 'American Idiot' on my transistor radio.
Dee- New York Dolls/David Bowie/The Power-Chords, a great band that hails from Chula Vista.
Branden- The Beatles, Bob Dylan, David Bowie and The Smiths.
Kait-0- Well in my car, The Mummies are in my CD player, In my room, The Spits are on my phonograph.

SDP: Do you have any closing comments?
Joey- Be sure to check out our new media by Sarah Payne that should be displayed on our website soon. Thanx for reading and maybe you can check us out sometime.
Dee- Contact us if you want to Atoms play your venue/party/bar mitzvah/wedding/etc.
Branden- Listen to your parents old record collection, but don't be afraid to grab a hold of new ideas.
