The Q

SDP: Who's in the band and what do they do?
Robin: Vocals, Guitar
Merwan: Drums
Kipper: Bass
Forrest: Lead Guitar

SDP: Briefly describe your music.
Kipper: Someone once described our music as The Cure being molested by At the Drive-In. It's probably the closest and coolest

description of our sound to date. While we were on Warped most of the kids who hadn't been
exposed to those bands would compare us to Coheed and AFI. That's
probably due to Robin's vocals.

SDP: Why should people listen to your band?

Kipper: Because we smell better than other bands. Our music is pretty okay as well. Our music is fast, and fun. It's emotionally driven but we don't get whiney with it. If you're getting tired of bands that scream, I'd say we're a pretty good alternative.

SDP: How long have you been a band for?
Kipper: We've been the Q for just a little over a year now.

SDP: Where did you get your name from?

Kipper: Well originally we called ourselves The Queue, but when we found out there was some band in Iowa or something of the sort, and that the word Queue is hard to spell and pronounce... We decided to simplify it to just the letter.

SDP: What makes The Q different from every other band out there?

Kipper: Our music doesn't sound exactly like anything else out there at the moment. We have a lot of different influences, and a lot of different
ideas merging into each of our songs. Robin being British and all really shines through in his singing and his song writing. He was raised on
Elton John and Black Sabbath. (think about that).

SDP: Is there any message you try to get across through your music?

Kipper: Bitches ain't nothing but hoes and tricks.

SDP: Do you have a single song that has a special meaning to you?
Kipper: Forrest wrote a song called "Everything Means Something" about the loss of Elliot Smith. A couple of our other new ones have some special meanings to Robin, so special that he won't even tell us what they're about.

SDP: What bands, people, books, etc. have had the biggest influence on your band?

Kipper: Oh man, The Beatles, The Who, The Cure, The Stones, and DEFINITELY Pink Floyd. Robin introduced me to this band called Superdrag a long time ago and they're definitely an influence. As far as people go, Michael Moore and Meher Baba. Books... Moon (a biography about Keith Moon) and Where the Wild Things Are.

SDP: What about the band are you most proud of?
Kipper: Our ability to work through whatever slows us down and come out on top.

SDP: What is the biggest thing you want to improve?
Kipper: We are on a constant mission to improve our musicianship and overall tightness as a band. Oh oh, and our alcohol tollerance.

SDP: What CDs are currently in your stereo?
Kipper: Well Robin and I have been trading the new Jimmy Eat World back and forth for a couple of days, and Coheed and Cambria is never far from my CD player. While I know Forrest has been checking out the new Interpol. Merwan has been listening to nothing but Raffi for the last 18 years.

SDP: Do you have any closing comments?
Kipper: I think it's only right to thank everyone that has helped us along the way. Thank you to all of you that like and support our music and our
band by checking out our CD, coming to our shows, and being good friends.
