The Attacks
Joel:
What's your band's name?
Band: The Attacks.
Joel: Who's in the band and what do they do?
Aaron: Screams and plays bass.
Aaron #2: Screams and plays the drums.
Zane: Screams and plays geetar.
Joel: Briefly describe your music.
|
 |
Aaron: Angry, loud, and fast.
Aaron #2: A light and breezy blend between Dave Matthews and
Anal Cunt.
Joel: Why should people listen to your band?
Aaron: I don't think they should.
Joel: How long have the Attacks been a band for?
Aaron #2: Since about April, but really, 1979 if anybody with
the same band name asks.
Joel: Where did you get your name from?
Aaron #2: Aaron stole it from a 15 year old girl.
Aaron: Kat from the Bitches made it up, and we begged her
to let us use
it, and she did!
Joel: What makes the Attacks different from every other
band out there?
Aaron: We manage to fuck up every song live.
Joel: Is there any message you try to get across through your
music?
Aaron: That George W. Bush is an asshole, also this whole
patriotic
crap that is shoved down our throats every second of every
day, from
bumper stickers to coffee mugs really needs to stop.
Joel: Do you have a single song that has a special meaning
to you?
Aaron: I like this one called "Get Jesus Out Of My Scene",
just telling
all the Jesus bands to fuck off and die.
Aaron #2: Yeah, that song where I play the drums means the
world to me.
Joel: What bands, people, books, etc. have had the biggest
influence on your band?
Zane: As a band, I would say our biggest influence is George
W's
bullshit. We formed during the beginning stages of Operation
Iraqi Freedom.
We're all politically minded, and the band has provided an
outlet for
our frustrations an uncertainty. As a guitar player, by far
my biggest
influence is Greg Ginn of Black Flag. His unique, in your
face style has not been matched by anyone. He was always able
to make something
out of nothing. Out of all the original punk bands, Black
Flag made the
biggest difference, because along with The Dead Kennedys and
DOA, they
were the first bands to tour DIY style.
Joel: What about the Attacks are you most proud of?
Aaron #2: The fact that since I have to spend money on band
stuff, I no
longer have enough money to support my heroin addiction.
Aaron: Affirmative action.
Joel: What is the biggest thing about the Attacks you want
to improve?
Zane: It would be our consistency. We've only been playing
together for
about 5 months, so I know it will come with time and practice.
We want
to get to the point where we can play the songs in our sleep!
Joel: What CDs are currently in your stereo?
Aaron: Dillinger Four
Zane: I've been getting back to my roots lately. I've been
listening to
a lot of Run DMC, Fat Boys, Easy-E, NWA, etc. I recently just
found a
copy of Krush Groove on DVD! This was the first type of music
I got into
way back when. Besides that, you'll always find something
old school in
my stereo like The Adolescents, The Misfits, Youth Brigade,
DRI, Black
Flag, Circle Jerks, Battalion of Saints, The Stooges, Minor
Threat,
etc.
Aaron #2: Vandals and Perfect Circle (the two bands of my
drum god). Oh, and to please my girlish side, I been bumpin'
da DMB (another drum god).
Joel: Do you have any closing comments?
Aaron #2: When do I start getting girls from this whole band
thing?
Aaron: Come drink adult soda with us October 5th.
