Split Infinity

SDP: Who's in the band and what do they do?
Nate Ball- Drums/Keys
Kris - Vocals/Guitar/EFX
Adam Jacobs - Vocals/ Guitar/Keys/EFX
Bob Garrity - Bass/EFX

SDP: Briefly describe your music.
Kris: A psychedelic and jazzy exploration of rock 'n roll/punk.
Adam: Like a person; only describable momentarily. Like a incredibly moody fisherman who can't decide whether to scream at or lull the fish.
Bob: An expansive landscape.
Nate: Whoever gets it wins.

SDP: Why should people listen to your band?
Kris: We're creating something new brewed from the cauldron of our inspirations. It's something we put everything into.
Adam: It's a stew you haven't tasted.
Nate: Because it's better than listening to your boss.

SDP: How long have you been a band for?
Band: One year.

SDP: Where did you get your name from?

Adam: Piers Anthony's first book in "The Apprentice Adept" trilogy. It's a concept we're fascinated with.
Kris: It delves into the duality of nature, time, and of course people.

SDP: What makes Split Infinity different from every other band out there?

Kris: The fact that Adam, Bob and I have played music together for over five years says a lot about the kind of chemistry that we create. Combined with Nate's musical madness, we really have an approach to music that's unique...and always surprising.
Adam: This question is unanswerable until you come see and hear us. It's a culmination of the minds of the craziest people I've ever known.
Nate: Because we gurgle leech blood before every show.
Adam: Exactly.

SDP: Is there any message you try to get across through your music?

Bob: We can't save the world, but we can offer an escape to another one.
Kris: There are a lot of things I believe in, political, spiritual, so on.....but most of what is written on my part is from personal experience,
writing is cathartic for me. As far as a message, I guess a lot of what we strive for is to keep an open mind, and to connect with the people out there with that same mentality. I feel that definitely comes across when you hear our music.
Adam: There is thoughtful music, and less thoughtful music. I believe what we put into our music makes it very thoughtful. That's important to me. The difference between the two kinds of music? Thoughtful music can be timeless, I think.
Nate: rat-tat-tat.

SDP: Do you have a single song that has a special meaning to you?
Adam: There are a lot of songs that mean a lot to us, so to single one out would be difficult and inaccurate. Depends on the weather, I
guess.

SDP: What bands, people, books, etc. have had the biggest influence on your band?

Bands: Pink Floyd, Sunny Day Real Estate, Radiohead, the Pixies, Jeff/Tim Buckley, Led Zeppelin, Blind Melon, Nirvana, Hendrix,
Flaming Lips, Portishead, Smashing Pumpkins, and it goes on....
People: Our friends, family, enemies, and each other (the combination of the three).

SDP: What about the band are you most proud of?
Kris: Our songs.
Bob: The music.
Nate: My new cow bell.

SDP: What is the biggest thing you want to improve?
Bob: Besides the world, ourselves.
Kris: Our equipment, fan base, and what Bob said.

SDP: What CDs are currently in your stereo?
Kris: The Doors "In Concert", Oscar Peterson "Night Train vol 2", the Displaced "Tango With the Man", God Speed Your Black Emperor
Adam: Neutral Milk Hotel "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea", Cursive "the Ugly Organ"
Bob: Marcy Playground, Dr. Demento
Nate: "er", Flaming Lips, the orange one
.

SDP: Do you have any closing comments?
Kris: We are set to record our first full length album in August... All new material which isn't on the web site (yet), containing what most
of our live set consists of. The mp3's on the site, and the site itself will be updated soon, but the best way to hear our new songs is always to come out to a show.
Adam: Keep listening to everything, then decide.
Bob: Yes. Don't chase your tail. You'll find us.
Nate: The End
