Andrew: Vocals
Brian: Drums

How did you come up with your band name?
Andrew: Somato Sensory comes from the word somatosensory cortex which is the part of the brain which controls your senses like touch, tastes, etc. I thought it was cool and unique and it made sense to use as our band name because we are a band who writes about human emotion.

Which venue in San Diego is your favorite and why?

Chris: HIV FREE!

Who are your favorite bands/biggest influences on the music you write?
Andrew: I don't really have a band that directly influences my writing but my favorite band is AFI.
Brian: i dont really take after anyone in the way I write my parts or play drums, but if I had to take after someone, I would give credit to some jazz/big band drummers like Buddy Rich or Gene Krupa
Chris: Pretty much any artist that has written good music, but as far as my favorite bands, I'd say Blink-182 and Underoath.

Chris: Orgasmic!

How do you feel about the local San Diego music scene?
Andrew: I'd say a lot of the up and coming bands are coming straight out of San Diego.
Brian: theres so many different styles of music coming out of San Diego. In my opinion, as long as you are passionate about the music you play, you can get anywhere you want within the music scene.
Chris: San Diego is the home to a lot of great bands, and a lot of these bands I look up to and listen to all the time such as Peirce The Veil, Off By One, Underminded, Lower Definition, Misdelphia, Blink 182, As I Lay dying... there are just so many...

What is the biggest thing about the band that you want to improve?
Andrew: I wouldn't mind getting vocal coaching one day...
Brian: I think our song writing is strong, but I'd like to improve our live set.
Chris: I'd like to be able to hear Andrew whenever we played...

Any last words?

Brian: stay tuned, big shit is going to happen!
Chris: We play at Chain Reaction on Jan. 13th with some really rad bands and its our first time out of San Diego so we are planning on big things that night! And thanks to www.sandiegopunk.com for making us band of the month!
