We caught up with In Reverent Fear for a quick follow-up interview to their recent CD review.

SDP: How is “Stomacher” different from In Reverent Fear’s last release? In Reverent Fear: We have been through an estimated 5 or 6 members since then and undergone several college experiences as well as 4 great years of musical and healthy physical development. So, I assume a great difference of change from our high school release, “written in the am.” With that said, I think our entire outlookon creating music has been |
For the stage we currently possess I consider we are fairly happy with our work. Everyone wishes their recording would sound like the new U2 etc, etc.; but for our condition we are content with our growing position. Sometimes the mistakes are the greatest parts.
How would you describe the album and what type of music fans do you think it appeals to?
We call it rock. If you listen to rock, perhaps a bit of pop, you will enjoy it. And that’s all I have to say ‘bout that.
What was the recording process like?
Very enjoyable. We recorded with Dave Swanson at Lovejuice labs in Riverside. For the most part it was very smooth. We were allotted a significant amount of time with guitar effects etc, which was well accepted, even much needed. In addition, we brought in one or two other musicians, which was great fun. They did an excellent job. We were very happy.
We basically did about a week for drums on tape, then spent about 20 days for everything else at another studio, mixed in riverside and finally we mastered with Mark Chalecki at Capitol. He was nice.
How has the response been so far?
It has been OK. Not the greatest. I think we have had an exceptionally difficult time getting our name out there. We are basically a brand new band. Putting the CD in people’s hands has been hard. But on the other hand, those that have heard it have generally expressed positive feedback. So that’s good. We look forward to bright and happy future.
What’s next for the band?
We are currently looking at a tour in January with our friends Now We Are Six (check them out they are phenomenal) and Fiore. This should be mainly west coast. Then in February, we are looking some other tours. Right now we have been writing and demo-ing a few new songs… which has been great fun. Another four years is long time for a third release.
Anything else you’d like to add?
Jeremy Enigk’s new CD!
