We caught up with the Transit War for a quick follow-up interview to their recent CD review.

San Diego Punk: The liner notes of your new record “Miss your Face” tell a lot of how the writing process was. Since a lot of people who read this will not have the liner notes yet (I say "yet" because you ought to go buy the cd!) can you give a brief recap? |
SDP: As far as strength of the songs, recording quality, and total package, how do you feel about the new record relative to “Ah Discordia?”
TTW: Well that’s kind of like asking which one of your kids you like better. We’re proud of both records, but with “Miss Your Face” I think we were just able to get our hands a little deeper in the creative honey pot so to speak. We got to explore some different kinds of instrumentation, organs, wacky guitars, percussion, so that was a lot of fun. Also I think the songwriting on the record left much more room for good ol’ fashioned natural production, not some pro-tools plug-in fest or anything.
SDP: In its early stages, how is “Miss Your Face” being received by the public including critics and fans?
TTW: So far most of the feedback we’ve gotten has been really positive so that’s a good feeling. We always enjoy hearing from actual fans of the band more than anything and so far so good!
SDP: In your last interview on this website, there was talk of your dealings with recording contracts for both major and independent labels. Have there been any new developments in that arena? It is my understanding that “Ah Discordia” was re-released by Orange Peel Records who also put out “Miss Your Face.” How is that relationship going for you?
TTW: Our relationship with Orange Peal has been wonderful. Although not much of a name in the record label game, they are some of the most passionate and genuinely caring people we’ve ever met. They’re just legitimate fans of the band and that helps when it comes time to negotiate business junk.
SDP: What does the band have in store for the immediate future in regards to touring to promote the new record? Do you have any show dates coming up here locally? Any plans to transcend the borders of the US and bring the San Diego rock to foreign lands?
TTW: Touring is our plan for pretty much all of 2007, we had a great 2006 on the road and now that the years coming to an end all of our sights are set on doing it even better next year. There’s some discussion about perhaps being able to make it to Japan as support for a couple of larger acts in February, as well as some good tours here in the spring time.
SDP: How do you plan to compensate me for the Beauty Bar show with Buckfast Superbee that was shut down only two songs into your set when I rarely get a moment to get out of the house these days being a father, husband, and absorbed with bands of my own?
TTW: Ha Ha! Extensive groveling on our knees for forgiveness, perhaps we could hang your Christmas lights this year or build you a bookshelf, perhaps a jug of Grapa?!
SDP: Looking far into the future beyond “Miss Your Face” and all of its related touring and promotion, do you see yourselves continuing on for the long haul and writing another full length release, or does it all ride on how things go with this record such that you are just taking everything in stride?
TTW: No stopping anytime soon! We’ll be releasing another record, we’ve even talked about doing some sort of acoustic E.P. really soon here, anything to just keep making and releasing music. It just might end up being some acid jazz or something… Hope that’s okay.
