Mission Statement:
The goal of SanDiegoPunk.com is to give in-depth
coverage of the San Diego "punk" community. This includes coverage
of pop-punk, hardcore, indie, emo, old-school punk, ska, rock, etc. A visitor
of the website should be able to find any information they need to get up to
speed on the punk scene in San Diego.
History:
Sandiegopunk.com was started by Joel Scheingross in February, 2000 as a Geocities
hosted web page. With the help of his brother Evan, Gary Bahen, Agent 51, and
countless others the site has evolved to its current form. The site covered
both national and local music until turning exclusively San Diegan in mid 2006.
This change reflects an attempt to refocus our efforts to achieving the fundamental
goal of the website: the promotion of local music. What you see now is fifth
version of the website, it's maintained by Joel and Evan, as well as occasional
volunteers and friends.
The following
people have offered help, time, and inspiration which was, and is, necessary
to create this website:
All the volunteer writers, Alex Scheingross, Andrea Katz, Gary Bahen, Greg Starobinet,
Gavin Rattman, Todd Knapek, Scott Puckett, Rob Perlman, James Barnum, Alice
Stinnett, Pamela Johnson, Jon Pebsworth, Doreen Laoang, Chris Greenslate, Gaylord
Van Broklin, Jeff Proctor, Joe Stein, Jen and Dan, Jordan Johnson, Nick Martin,
Erik Brownary, Kat H, Gregory Horton, and Corey Corrupt. Sorry to everyone we
forgot.
